When the Ohev Yisrael of Apta held the Rabbinic position in Mezhibuz, he used to pray in the "Rabbiner's Klaizel" – the shul adjoined to the Besht's Beis Midrash.

After the village of Mezhibuz was destroyed in the war, the shul that miraculously survived became the fire station. The activist group "Oholei Tzaddikim" redeemed the building, and with the help of generous donors raised funds to renovate and restore this Makom Kadosh. In the Shul you can find a vast library and a quiet and comfortable place to study, a convenience for all guests to the village.

The beautiful mikve that stands in the center of Mezhibuz was built on one of the inspiring wondrous stories of the Besht. The water fountain suitable for Tevila has not been here since the six days of creation; rather, it started flowing one day when the Besht went out to the fields. When Mincha time arrived, the Besht realized that there was no water available to wash his hands before Tefilla. The sun was about to set and there was no water to purify himself. The Besht tapped the ground with his cane and with hot tears begged Hakadosh Baruch Hu to bring forth water in order not to transgress the words of the Shulchan Aruch. Suddenly he heard a soft gurgling sound and from the ground below him a fresh water fountain burst forth! These waters that were created from the power of the pure Tefilla of the Besht, are adorned with wondrous tales, and attract towards them Yidden from all around the world who need a Yeshuah.

The synagogue where the Baal Shem Tov prayed, which was destroyed during the Holocaust and was rebuilt by the Ohalei Tzaddikim Association, years after the Baal Shem Tov began spreading the teachings of Hasidism, was offered many rabbinical positions. One of them was the town of Ezibuz, the Baal Shem Tov deliberated a lot, and at last the decision was made and he settled in Maazivuz. Many stories are accepted by the Baal Shem Tov's students about this decision, one of which is the following story: In Mezibuz he served in a large Jewish rabbinate in the Torah, which even established a large and magnificent synagogue. The residents of the town began to pray in the new Beit Midrash, while the old Beit Midrash was abandoned. Not long after the rabbi fell ill, his relatives approached the Ba'al Shem Tov with a request for salvation. The Baal Shem Tov arrived at the sick house and ordered him to leave the rabbinate, so that he would recover. With an emphasis on the fact that the ancient synagogue in Mezibuz demanded his insult in the sky. After these things, the Baal Shem Tov settled in the town and established his place of prayer in the ancient synagogue, noting that this synagogue was directed against the Temple of Heaven. The ancient synagogue was destroyed during the Holocaust and in 5770 was re-inaugurated after it was renovated and reconstructed by an exact copy by the Ohalei Tzaddikim Society. (Full story)
